Students in elementary school are curious about life, eager to experiment and learn new things, and excited to share their knowledge with others. Through STEAM Education, Character Education, and Service Learning, our teachers foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, analytical thinking, problem solving, and social responsibility.
Elementary school is a pivotal time in a child’s life. It is the child’s first contact with structured learning. This experience will be a deciding factor as to whether or not a child enjoys school and finds the learning process rewarding.
At PMIS, we emphasize the development of life-skills are valued just as highly as academic progress and achievement. Life-skills learning permeates our curriculum and we are committed to ensuring these are valued and actively taught. In addition, we emphasize traditional preparation for further education such as work and study habits, neatness, intellectual discipline and respect for the environment in general.
PMIS challenges students and puts them on firm footing for the rest of their educational careers. By the time students finish our elementary curriculum, they have been prepared for a demanding secondary curriculum and given solid study habits and learning skills which will enable them to excel through college and beyond.
Diversity
PMIS celebrates its diversity and embraces its multi-cultural community. Our primary school plays a fundamental role in laying the foundation for developing sincere and considerate global citizens.
Through the design of our curricular and extra curricular programmes, we ensure a broad and balanced mix of immersion activities. Equally, we promote open communication between students and staff and strongly encourage students to be fully involved and actively take part in their education.
Bilingual structure
The bilingual structure at PMIS ensures the celebration of cultural diversity and allows our community to flourish in terms of communication and involvement in learning.
We believe that a bilingual education offers a 'first look' at the aforementioned life-skills. As a student progresses through the stages at PMIS, these skills - first introduced through our bilingual approach - can be applied across a plethora of academic and social interactions; helping students to problem solve, understand and be resilient in the complex and challenging world they live in.
Introducing students to the complexity of language and culture from an early age promotes invaluable qualities which include, but are not limited to, comparison and discussion, analysis of strengths and weaknesses, tolerance and patience.
Primary School Curriculum
Our Primary School curriculum utilises the best of a range of international approaches to education to ensure a variety of learning experiences for our students. These selected, best pedagogical practices alongside purposeful and regularly facilitated access to life learning opportunities makes our primary school a unique and inspiring place to be.
